RFID Sherpas LLC is a consulting practice focused exclusively on the retail sector.  The company serves a global base of retailers, merchandise vendors, technology providers, institutional investors and industry associations as an advisor on all facets of Retail RFID, Omni-Channel, and Mobility including matters of strategy, project design, implementation and business case analysis.  In addition to helping clients utilize RFID practically and profitably in stores and other retail operating environments, the company plays an active role at the association level, fostering education and adoption of item-level RFID within the retail community.

Leadership Team

Marshall Kay is an RFID specialist and retail strategist.  He is particularly well known for his work validating and articulating the business case for item-level RFID, not only in apparel and footwear, but also in categories like consumer electronics, books and media, cosmetics and luxury goods.  Prior to launching this practice Marshall led the North American RFID practice of global management consulting firm Kurt Salmon Associates (KSA). He has helped retailers and suppliers in North America, Europe and Asia put RFID to profitable use. A popular speaker, Marshall is a repeat contributor to RFID Journal and has been interviewed by Fortune, STORES, Apparel Magazine and Women’s Wear Daily for his perspectives on RFID and collaborative commerce. He is a 7-time author of Apparel Magazine's widely circulated annual report on RFID In The Apparel Industry. Marshall holds an MBA from the University of Michigan Business School.
John-Pierre ("JP") Kamel is a retail and RFID specialist. He is a recognized leader in the Canadian and US RFID and Mobility communities and brings over 15 years of enterprise strategy and solutions integration experience, primarily focused on RFID, Omni-Channel, wireless and mobility solutions. John-Pierre has played a central role with some of North America's largest RFID deployments, currently tracking the movements of millions of tagged items across hundreds of locations. Prior to joining the firm he led the RFID practices of VeriSign and Bell Canada, where he was responsible for all RFID sales, marketing and delivery activities. Prior to that, John-Pierre was the Canadian Lead of the Mobility Solutions Practice within Capgemini (formerly Cap Gemini Ernst and Young), where he led projects in mobile strategy and business development, including RFID, for many of North Americas largest organizations. He is the former co-chair of EPCglobal Canada's Strategic Advisory Council, works closely with its subcommittee on Traceability, and sits on GS1 Canada's Standards & Services Governance Board.
